Best practice timed pathways

To ensure that a diagnosis can be made in a timely manner there have been some nationally approved timed-pathways developed. 

These map out how long each phase of the patient journey from referral to diagnosis should take. 

The pathways mean you may be offered a telephone assessment and/or a test before you get an appointment with a consultant, this is to ensure the doctor has all the information needed to make an quality informed decision about your care. 

These improvements should mean that at least 80 per cent of patients get to the point of diagnosis within 28 days.

Treatment variation 

We are passionate about ensuring treatment is to the same high standard throughout Kent and Medway. 

As a team we have look at areas where treatment type, performance and outcomes are different to understand what can be improved. 

We aim to share best practise across Kent and Medway, and have set up clinical reference groups of expert doctors, nurses and patients to carry out this work.
