Diagnosing cancer earlier improves treatment options and survival outcomes. However, some communities experience higher rates of late diagnosis due to lower awareness of symptoms or barriers to accessing healthcare services.

This funding supports community organisations to deliver activities that:

  • increase awareness of cancer signs and symptoms
  • encourage people to seek medical advice earlier
  • improve understanding and uptake of NHS cancer screening programmes
  • support communities who experience inequalities in cancer outcomes
  • increase confidence in accessing primary care and health services
  • raise awareness of ways to help lower the risk of some cancers, embedding prevention within community and primary care settings.
